AOL still leads as the largest ISP in the United States, but Comcast has leapt into the number two spot thanks to broadband uptake, reports AFP. Comcast claims ownership of 19 percent of broadband users and seven percent of all online users. SBC accounts for 11 percent of all broadband users and 6 percent of all connections. The figures come from a study conducted by comScore Networks, who among other stats, note that San Diego has become the first major U.S. metropolitan market where broadband adoption exceeds dial-up usage.
