Accounting packages are computer applications which keep track of all or part of your business operations. Some packages handle only part of your operation (eg Billing or Payroll ) others handle it all ( Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Order Processing, Stock Control, General Ledger, Job Costing, etc ).
The most widely used packages for small or medium businesses are "integrated accounting packages" which handle all ( or most ) business functions within a single program. Larger organisations often use a "database solution" with independently developed "applications" for the individual modules (eg purchasing and sales ).
