Honglianyou 6 is the "Hong Lian" type three-line hybrid rice variety with the advantage of good-quality and super high yielding. Growth duration is 140 days, average 100 growth days from the seeding to the initial spike booting under transplanted conditions in Hubei province of China. Elite plant type, strong tillering ability, large sink and huge source, narrow and straight foliages, no senescence. Its average yield is 11-12.5 ton/hectare in the provincial trails, and in large area plantation demonstrations, the yield potential is over 15.0 ton/hectare in China. It has a great adaptability in yangtse drainage area, southern China and southeastern Asia. Good quality, complying with national high-grade rice standard, its brown rice 79.92%, milled rice recovery 67.14%, kernel length-width ratio 3.1, chalky kernel 30%, area with chalkiness 5.0%, amylase content 20. 54%, gel consistency 52mm.
About 150 kg hybrid seeds of this variety are needed in one hectare for nursery. Transplant 30 days old seedlings at the shallow depth of 2 to 3 cm. On the nursery, apply tillering-promoting fertilizers when there is one leaf, 75-90kg/ha urea when two leaves and the same urea 5 days before transplanting.
Adopt 20 x 11.5cm spacing using 2 seedlings per hill, 2700-3000 thousand effective tillers per hectare. Averagely, applying totally 180 kg Nitrogen is enough. The ratio of Nitrogen, phosphorus and potash is 2:1:1.5. As a whole, basal dose should be the main fertilizer. Tillering fertilizers, fertilizer at panicle initiation stages is important assistant.
Maintain 3 cm to 5 cm water throughout the growing season in the uniformly leveled field to avoid lodging. Any other organic manure should be incorporated in the field for getting good yields. The fertilizer recommendations for nursery and the main field should be modified if required, based on soil test results.
Higher resistance to major diseases such as blast and bacterial blight, little sensitive to false smut. Adopting necessary plant protection in full heading and ripping time is effective in false smut prevention.
